日本語と英語のバイリンガルで活動しています。月2回の活動の中で、英語からスタートする回、日本語からスタートする回を交互にしてプログラムを組んでいます。
参加者は、英語、日本語ともに初心者からベテランまで様々で、初心者でも安心して参加できます。家庭的な雰囲気の中で、「次もまた、人前で発言したくなる、勇気」 が出るように、その人により沿ったフィードバックをしています。

In view of the continuing COVID-19 Pandemic, our meetings have been held on line since after March 2020. As of March 2022, it is not planned to resume face-to-face meetings yet.

Won’t you wish to develop your communication and leadership skills? Toastmasters Club is an international organization and is

the right place for such purposes. By becoming a member, you are provided with “a supportive and positive learning experiences in which members are empowered to develop  communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth.”

2.  Welcome to our Yokohama-Hiyoshi Toastmasters Club !

Yokohama-Hiyoshi Toastmasters Club is one of some 500 toastmasters club in Japan working mostly in Yokohama city. It was started in January 2015 and was formally chartered on September 7, 2017. Members usually gather for the meetings in Hiyoshi/Kikuna area along the Toyoko Line in Kohoku Ward of Yokohama. It is characterized by being a Bi-lingual Club. During two hours of meeting time, one hour is conducted in English and other one hour is conducted in Japanese. Therefore, non-native speakers of Japanese are welcome to join our club.

Our meetings are held, in principle, on the 2nd and 4th Monday evenings from 19:00 till 21:00. In the month having the 5th Monday, we hold a special meeting. Various sessions are provided  in each meeting including 2 to 4 prepared speeches, table topics or dialogs.

3.  How to become a member?

(1)   Before determining to become a member of our club, you may wish to participate in a meeting as a guest. Please send us a request for a visit as a guest as par the request form below. 

English hour and Japanese hour are alternately held. The mood of a meeting may vary depending on the attending members. Thus, the participation as a guest is available up to 3 meetings without any fee or charge.

Guests are not usually requested to make a speech in the meeting, but may express brief comments or opinion at the beginning and ending of the meeting.

(2). After the second visit, guests can declare the intention to apply for the membership. 

(3). Applicant is requested to pay the registration fee and the membership fee for the first term before registration.

(4). Initiation ceremony for each new member shall be held in the nearest meeting.

  1. 4.  Fees and Charges

Registration fee: 3,000 Japanese Yen, but is not charged to  students or to registered members in other clubs.

Membership Fee: 10,000 Japanese Yen for every six months, but is 6,000 Japanese Yen for students

Membership fee is payable twice every year, I.e. for October –  March term and April – September term at the beginning of each term.
